Nobody Likes Sean Avery

By Stanley

Sean Avery continues to be the least liked person in the world. Tonight, in a 4-3 victory over the Caps, Avery clearly interfered with Caps defenseman Mike Green, allowing the Rangers to score on a play that would have otherwise been stopped. Avery continues to get people to hate him every day.

More NHL Playoff Notes:

-Caps need to get better goaltending if they want to have a chance to make it out of the second round. Washington will most likely still win this series vs. the Rangers, even though they lost Game One. But Jose Theodore really has to play better. There is huge pressure on Washington to win Game 2.

-Alex Ovechkin had 6 shots and 6 hits in the first period, he looked intense.

-Great performance by the New Jersey Devils in Game One to make a statement in a 4-1 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes. A lot of experts (including Scott on this blog) picked the Hurricanes to win this series, and they very well may do that. But the Devils make a big statement tonight.

-Pittsburgh really dominated Philly, and this series looks like it could be a blowout. The Penguins are a far superior team to the Flyers.

-Versus is running a pretty cool commercial for the playoffs, flashing through images of great players looking up at the clock in game. The commercial plays cool music, and its intense, and then it flashes "don't miss a second" with a countdown clock of however many total seconds there are in all of the playoff games combined, which is 870800 seconds apparently (the commercial came on as I'm writing this). The problem is that it says "don't miss a second", when you actually have to miss a lot of seconds, because tonight three games were going on simultaneously and we all got stuck with the Penguins-Flyers trouncing instead of a great game between the Capitals and Rangers.

-Jose Theodore sucks.

-Alex Ovechkin had 13 shots on goal in the game with no goals, an extreme rarity.
